Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 10054. Veterans helping Veterans, in Pahrump which also operates under the name of VFW Post 10054, is located in Pahrump, Nevada. This organization primarily operates as a subordinate unit to the National Organization the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America was officially incorporated May 28th, 1936.
The purposes of the Corporation are fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable, and educational and are:
- To preserve and strengthen comradeship among its members;
- To assist worthy comrades;
- To perpetuate the memory and history of our dead, and to assist their surviving spouses and orphans;
- To maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States, and fidelity to its Constitution and laws;
- To foster true patriotism;
- To maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom; and
- To preserve and defend the United States from all enemies.
Post 10054 was established 22 April 1972 at 4651 S Homestead Rd., Pahrump, Nevada 89048. The Post holds its monthly meetings on the second Saturday of each month at 10am.
The VFW Auxiliary (Formally known as the Ladies Auxiliary), now has qualified men and women in it. The VFW Auxiliary operates and maintains a Food Bank, and Clothing Locker for those Veterans and their families that are having troubled times.
The Post recognizes and works with the Community of Pahrump in several different ways. We have essay writing contest for High School, and Jr. High School students to receive monies and scholarships for the winners. There are four (4) levels to the essay competition, Post, District, Department, and National. The essay contests are Voice of Democracy (VOD), High School and Patriots Pen for Jr. High School. All essays are due to the Post generally around the 1st of November each year.
The Post also recognizes Teachers for their outstanding achievements during the year, and as the essay contest the Teachers also compete on 4 levels.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10054 works directly with and in support of all Law Enforcement agencies in our area. We recognize one officer every year for outstanding service in the Community.
The Post performs Memorial Services, Flag folding, and proper flag retirements throughout the year and one huge retirement ceremony every September the 11th.
